Description
About me
Im a tassel maker, and contempory art is one of my passions. I adore texhniques and skilled artisans. My art is my drive, and delvelooing texhniques is my life. I burn lotus flowers and turn them into ink and with a fresh cut lotus, my artwork commences with but one impression, then continues into thousands. The shading and the density of these “stamps” produce undulating patterns. Some works may consist over of 10,000 lotus stalk impressions.
I grew up in central Australia and I am also a skilled textile artisan, designing trimmings and tassels. Inspired by my textile work, where I repeatedly weave the same pattern over and over to re-create classic old fringes and braids, I finds joy in repeating painstaking patterns over and over in my inked lotus art.
Work / Education
Not only do I make my own ink from lotus petals, I also make my own looms. I’ve built five looms from 300 year old French trimmings loom patterns and currently I’m building my own 400 year old ribbon loom and a 200 year old jacquard loom.
Cambodia is my home and creating is my life.
