Description
About me
Life changed forever when cancer grabbed a hold of my child. From that precise moment, I began to see the world around me with a heightened sense of survival and purpose. With the use of surrealism and magic realism that ranges from detail to loosely simplified forms, my oil paintings explore narratives of nostalgia, discovery, and overcoming obstacles. I was born in Peru and lived there for 13 years; much of the picturesque but also tragically impoverish culture and surrounding visual arts to depict this environment had a lasting impact. I grew up in Southern California, in the city of Rancho Palos Verdes, and graduated from the California University of Long Beach emphasizing on Psychology and Biology in hopes to pursue neurosurgery, but, with daughter’s illness I was veered in this artistic journey. Within a year of my child’s recovery I was accepted in the Post Baccalaureate program and then subsequently into the Masters of Fine art program in Painting at The Laguna College of Art and Design. I graduated with a Masters of Fine Art degree in Painting. I am an Associate Professor of Painting at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA. I have shown my work in diverse areas of Southern California, online, through public artwork, and, Universal Pictures motion films.
