Description
About me
My name is Hanne-Lizé, I live in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. In my early art career I started making stop-frame animation. I fell in love with the odd yet wonderfully surrealistic space that it created- this surrealistic-space would later become my safe-haven and play-field for whenever I need to escape the strains of this so-called "real life". I now make collage art from images that I cut out from books and magazines that I find within my local community. I tend to work with animals instead of humans since I feel a connection with the animal kingdom. I find that some of my more recent works are an attempt to open a gateway and connect with the spiritual world. I also like the idea of exploring different perspectives and ways of looking at art and life itself, deconstructing what is believed to be "normal". But even more recently I have been mixing collage art and painting, using acrylics, oil paint, collage paper and found object in paintings. With this I am deconstructing and remaking new images and ideas from that which has been cast away by society (the books I use for the collages are almost always outdated). Let my work be that odd space in your home where you can pause, breath and think about the beauty in the chaos.
