About me
There are three main things that I really try to strive for in what I paint: That it encourages and open to individual interpretation, show that "abstract nothing" can be a wonderful "something" (the awe that abstract is and can be) and to create something that can be appreciated by everyone. What interests me about what I do is being able to paint pictures that can mean something different to everyone is very important to me. How a few paint strokes or blobs laid down without a purpose (which is how most of my work starts as) can evolve into something really great looking; it surprises me how they look in the end and who doesn't love surprises. Finally, to paint something that makes people feel something - Like I do when I'm painting it.
Art is being snuffed out of the town that I live in. I tried to start a gallery on my own in 2011 and it only lasted about 2 to 3 months. I had managed to sign on a few other local artists whom shared my same goal to keep art alive in our area. Although I was the only one who sold any work, 3 pieces, I felt like I didn’t do something right to make things turn out better but then realized that it wasn’t me. It was the community in general. Our only real art gallery closed in early 2013 and we are going to lose our only art supply store we have within the next year. I want to do something to make art relevant again. I put everything I have into everything I paint. So much of myself is conveyed in every piece. I can tell you exactly how I was feeling or thinking when I produced any of my given pieces. I think that says a lot about not only myself, but my work also.

Work / Education
As far as education goes, I couldn’t afford to go to art school so I am completely self taught. The most I have gotten for education is through personal experiences and through different people in the art community.
I opened and ran my own gallery for a brief period in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Location of the gallery coupled with the slow economy caused me to close. I have experience with the business side of art as well as being an artist for over 112 years.
