About me
I first fell in love with painting when I was four years old and saw an episode of the Bob Ross show. It was magical to me how he took a blank canvas and made such beautiful world's on it! I started sketching whatever I could see on whatever pieces of paper I could find.
When I was six, my parent's enrolled me in private art classes taught by professional artists. My first teacher used oil painting as her medium. From her I learned the basics of color theory, how to sketch accurately on a canvas, and how to use different tones to create shadows and light.
My second teacher was a wonderful woman who used watercolor as her medium. Under her tutalage, I learned how to use different techniques with both paint and water to draw observers into the focal point, delved more into color theory and some adventurous ways to use it to create passion, and began to develop my painting style. It was also under her that I learned to love and embrace the community of artists and creativity. I loved the freedom of going on a hike to a river and using river water to paint, of using coffee to produce a brown and white painting, and to paint by candlelight! I loved the free thinking ways of my fellow artists and how we supported each other in life and in painting triumps and disasters.
I took a break from artwork while I attended college and began my professional career as a healthcare worker. As I became established in that career I began to return to artwork. I studied more classical works and read about the mathmatics of art and how to use placement, line shapes, and tone schemes to convey different emotions and themes of my paintings.
I sold some paintings as a teenager and wish to again engage in selling and grow my career as an artist. I focus on watercolor paintings of people and animals both alone and in a close relationship with another. The focal point of my paintings is almost exclusively eyes. My pieces are dramatic and meant to convey emotions and ideas.
