Description
About me
A First Nations Visual Poet. I come from Brandon Manitoba, Im Dakota First Nations. I have lived on the Canadian prairies my whole life. The vastness of the big sky and vastness of lands have influenced my world and that comes through in my artistic practice.
The work of the past two decades has focused on cultural demoralization of the soul. Being imbedded in the urbanest ghettos. Harris captures, feels, experiences the life within cities urban-nature of what makes a city. The Artists role in the city, and lives of people and capture the hopeful oppressed spirit of the demoralized lives within the beauty and grittiness the photographs.
To capture the soul within the artist elucidate the bigger picture the use of pastels, acrylics, ink on wood. The image of the “Outsider Artist” uses whats presented at my disposal to capture the beauty that lies within the decay of cities and people. The influences of Robert Frank, or Henri Cartier Breslin have guided my eyes through urban ghettos representing poverty, addiction and decay to find something beautiful within the subject. My desire to see the beauty in the ugly realities of city life as mundane or even tragic scenes are photographed with a sense of dignity, and love within all.
