About me
You can call me Chandra for short. I'm a 25 years old art hobbyist who wishes to be pro one day. I currently work in an Airline Company in Indonesia, not so much to tell you about my work there.
I went to Law School before but I never felt that I'm into it. I only want to be an artist since whenever but it was always hard to convince my parents to let me in the Art major. Until finally I graduated from the law school, I never become the one who wants to be serious about being a law practitioner.
I finally ended up working in a company I'm working for right now, but I plan to resign as soon as my working contract finished. I once searched for scholarship to enter Master Degree in Curatorship or Contemporary Art, but it's nearly impossible for a law grad background to be accepted in that major. Then I almost gave up, but I had my husband ensured me to keep on going to fight for my passion. I stopped quitting, I started my art blog to make it my online portfolio as well as in my instagram page (@mcabych). I also write a review towards some artists' work to sharpen my sense in art at the same time.
I spend my 6 AM to 6 PM for working, considering I need to be ready on 6 AM to work at 7.30 everyday due to the heavy traffic of Jakarta and go back home at 4.30 PM with one until two hours ride to home. I only have four to maximum six hours to brainstorm and maximise my time creating ideas for my works. I sometimes feel very upset if I have not enough time making some creation because I feel too tired to make my brain get creative.
I use the digital media instead of paper or canvas since I can't just mess my small apartment with brushes, oil, and canvases. I don't use paper as well, I don't find it efficient to draw in paper since it's more time consuming than drawing in the digital media. I use my old iPad since 2012 to draw everything, and the apps I use is SketchBook Pro and Paper by 53. It works very well, I love it, it gives me privilege to channel my hobby as well as polish it with the simplest access possible.
I always have a big crush on David Hockney and Frida Kahlo's works, although I also put my admiration towards Warhol and Basquiat as well. For me, Kahlo works titled "Self Portrait with Cropped Hair" is very enticing and meaningful for me, even though the story behind it is based on the sadness Kahlo had experienced after her separation from Diego.
I enjoy contemporary art in paintings as well as in other field of art, such as: poetry and dance. I like to create an art that's very relevant with today's society, I enjoy satire works too. I also like to make my work very colourful and vibrant, that's why I keep using bright colours and different hues. I lately learn to paint with water colours and create something lighter and softer than my previous works. I'm actually working on my artwork characteristic, I haven't tried much styles but I will do my best to explore my skill in drawing an painting even further to enhance my works quality and identity.
I hope you enjoy my works, any critics and comments are welcome. Thank you for visiting my page.
With Love,
Chandra
