About me
Duality of Opposites...
Opposites is the definition of the other on an entirely different perspective. These are two different and oftentimes contradictory images of a concept or a form. Good and evil. Beautiful and ugly. War and peace.
One will not be able to exist without the other.
Everything and everyone has its opposite counterpart.
In this regard, nothing will be in existence without its opposite counterpart.
...
Therefore, the reason of one’s existence is not only to define and live for itself but also to live and define its opposite. It is a balanced and symbiotic existence of everything.
...
This maybe the theme of Jofre’s visuals.
It goes deeply into the subject, pushing it almost to the point of dissecting it to reveal the opposite behind its
every image.
One will sometimes wonder if the one being presented
is the ideal model or its opposite counterpart.
It thrives on the nagging psychology of the artist that there is always more to an image than what meets the eye.
...
Duality of Opposites is an autobiography of the artist.
It spans from the early childhood sketches to the screaming protests of the college days influenced mainly by a community of struggling artists organization called
PANDAY PIRA (Pandayan ng Pilipinong Kultura) in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
...
When the pencil and the brush rested in 1996, it took another 20 years before the repressed images have won their war to land themselves on Jofre’s canvas again.
There is no escaping it. The artist and his art must co-exist. Then and now. Now and therefore, till the end.
...
The Pluralist...
Jofre is an “outsider” artist. One borne not by the school of art but by the art itself. He believes he is an existentialist and a pluralist. He believes he is an activist. He believes he does not have to convince anyone on the veracity and tenacity of his craft.
...
Jofre lives in the outskirts of Marikina City overlooking the entire Metro Manila... Philippines.
