Fire and Ice
Description
Initially I use a pouring medium to let the paint flow and use random objects in unusual ways to direct the pour and create texture. I then follow the pour with multiple pours across the entirety of the canvas with paint that I mix which changes the viscosity of the paint from heavy acrylics to high flow acrylics. I follow with fine details in each piece. Using small brushes and acrylics pens and focusing on smaller areas of throughout a larger canvas, I transport myself into a zone in which time is suspended.
Each painting is a tool for advocacy and awareness for invisible illnesses, i.e., CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) fibromyalgia, and medical trauma related injuries. By pouring my personal experiences with chronic illness and chronic pain onto the canvas, my intent is to create awareness to help break the stigma associated with emotional and physical pain.
