Silent Pain (Back)

Silent Pain (Back)

"Why would you want to display your undies for the world to see?"
(1) It is society that tells us underware is riskay. And I prefer to not allow a social construct to tell me how to think.
(2) Far too many women are told that they exist for a man's pleasure. Far too many women are told to spread their legs to make their man happy. These are lies and too many women still believe them. Too many women still have no choice in the matter of who takes pleasure in using their sexual organs.
(3) If even a single woman still believes these lies and is manipulated to rent out her uterus; then I will continue to display this piece.
Until all of society, across the entire planet, values men and women as inherently equal, and the social stigmas surrounding rape and rape culture cease to be passed on to a new generation. This includes the impact that rape culture has on both men and women.

The point of the knives and bullet casings represents the violence against women and/or all things perceived to be feminine. The point of the rest is to embody the fact that no matter the pain and/or violence, feminine beauty and grace will never die out. Like a garden plowed over, next spring the garden will flourish again, more vibrant and vigorous than ever. This is the resilience of beauty.

This is a double sided painting, meaning that both the front and the back of the canvas were painted and embellished to create two individual pieces that beautifully complement each other.
