This landscape is a screen print-reinterpretation of one of my childhood’s favorites, The Starry Night, by Vincent van Gogh. His painting is dominated by dense swirling patterns that express the depth of his emotion. I on the other hand have transferred dot patterns onto the canvas to mimic stars twinkling in the night sky. In the process, I have tried to preserve the dreamy atmosphere of van Gogh’s work by layering colors thinly in the background and by adding lyrical brushstrokes to the composition.
