Diana and the Sorcerer

Diana and the Sorcerer

Description

Original Fine Art Drawing

14 x 11 inches; color pencil on acid-free heavyweight Bristol paper. Matted to museum standards and ready for framing.

After I completed this piece 18 years ago at my local Starbucks, several people looking over my shoulder immediately remarked: “That's Princess Diana.”

As I don't plan my art in advance, the appearance of Diana's spirit in this intricately connected piece was also a surprise to me. My work appears spontaneously through intuition from the collective unconscious—the source of all great art.

In this case, we have a symbolic drama featuring three main figures: Diana, Charles, the Sorcerer, and other elements that will reveal themselves in good time.

There are theories that Princess Diana's death was an assassination. The truth about her demise may very well be embedded in this art. It is up to you, the viewer, to provide meaning.

"Eden’s story is one of a modern-day Odysseus."

—J. Jason Horejs, owner, Xanadu Gallery

“Eden Maxwell’s art is brilliant; he’s the real thing, a true creator.”

—Mary Anne Bartley, Artist-in-Residence: Villanova University, WHYY, PBS

“Extraordinary works that resist categorization.”

—Maurice Bassett, publisher

“Whimsical, evocative, full of play and light and wonder enough to set a mind spinning with delight.  Eden's use of color and texture in his rhapsodic, original and brilliant prints make me marvel, and marvel some more, and the range of feeling they elicit is wide, though always tipped towards the side of joy. Just beautiful.”

—Dr. Emanuel E. Garcia, art collector

My art is in collections both here and abroad.
