Dragonflies have always fascinated me because they are both fears and beautiful. I often decorated my children's room with dragonflies because they weren't neither masculine or feminine. Often times dragonflies have a variety of deep rich colors on their bodies or in their wings. With this piece I just started to draw and the dragonfly came about. I thought of putting it on water maybe on a lily pad but then this form beneath it took shape and it reminded me of a grapefruit orange section. I love the richness of color that really makes it stand out.
