I was born in South Korea in 1953. I began my career in a civil engineering company, which involved a lot of work in forests. It was while working in these forested areas that I began to see many pine trees and started to take a deeper interest in and feel a spiritual connection to pine trees. One day, one monk showed me a picture of a pine tree and I felt as if my soul was connected with that of the pine tree, sending me into a Stendhal syndrome-like state. From that day on, my 40-year journey began. During these 40 years, I drove the distance of 300 million kilometers, the equivalent of driving around the earth 80 times. I also captured 60 million photographs and still have a vivid memory of each photo I took.
