In Japan shopping is a popular pass time and people love to visit ‘famous’ stores when they visit a town or city. The lantern in this painting belongs to ‘Yoji-ya’ a very famous cosmetics shop in Kyoto, founded in 1904. They are best known for their ‘Abura Tori-gami’ (a special type of washi that removes access oil from the face), they often offer limited editions like ‘Sakura’ in the spring and ‘Yuzu’ in the winter season. When visitig Kyoto you will see many people walking around with bags featuring their striking logo.

This mixed media painting on authentic, handmade Washi (Japanese paper) with beautiful natural edges on all sides. The painting is created using a combination of image transfer and acrylic paints and mediums. The artwork is signed on the front and has title, date, artist name on the back. It comes with a signed certificate of authenticity from the artist.
