Description
It's at night when the reality sinks in. When you fall into yourself. The realization of your emptiness emerges , it's the only thing you can see from the darkness. The tears fall so heavy ; and the loneliness sickly comforts you in its arms. The repeated spiral of thoughts begin , the pain starts in the heart and slowly aches the whole body. You soak in the pain, seep into the darkness , until you are awoken by the light . The start of a new day to repeat the same nights
Acrylic on canvas
Inspiration behind this piece is the process of crying ones self to sleep. During the night when we are alone is when the raw emotions tend to surface. I wanted to capture emotions, movement and representation of time through the body in the lonely hours of the night. The use of blue to accent the cold and dark feeling of emptiness. The hands along with the position of the woman represent a clock. The mandala representation is the center of the clock and the hands searching around for wholeness.
I find that capturing emotions and thoughts in a painting help give a place for them to coexist, rather than consume my thoughts.
